The No Tax on Tips law, effective January 1, 2025, allows tipped workers to deduct up to $25,000 in tip income from their federal taxable income. This applies to workers in traditional tipping industries — restaurants, hotels, salons, and more.
Florida workers get a double benefit: no federal tax on tips (up to $25,000) AND no state income tax — making Florida one of the best states for tipped workers.
Florida follows the federal tip credit rule: employers may pay tipped workers a cash wage as low as $2.13/hr, using up to $5.12/hr in tips to reach the $7.25/hr federal floor. If tips fall short in any week, the employer must make up the difference.
